Serendipity (n): When your forthcoming new release picture book could not tie in more perfectly with this year’s #CBCA2020 Book Week theme of ‘Curious Creatures, Wild Minds.’
If you know a Teacher, a Librarian, or indeed a Teacher Librarian…I would so very much appreciate if you would tag them in this post to let them know about this new title from Ford Street Publishing, Megan Forward and yours truly. It is absolutely chock-full of Curious (Australian) Creatures and Wild (Young) Minds. The cherry on top is a positive subtext about the empowering nature of learning to read!
Flipping through the pages of Scribbly Gum Secrets is like taking a walk through the Australian bush…without the risk of creepy-crawly bites! It’s the story of four reluctant adventurers with wild minds discovering a world full of natural wonders, curious creatures and the truth behind those squiggly marks on the scribbly gum trees…
Megan Forward and I have created an engaging student workshop around Scribbly Gum Secrets that that just so happens to tick all the STEAM boxes. We can tailor our workshops for children as young as Kindergarten, right through to Year 6. Running similar workshops over the past two years, based on our previous book together, Jacaranda Magic, we’ve found that children absolutely LOVE the opportunity to hear from both Author and Illustrator perspectives, and respond beautifully and creatively to the stimulus provided.
We have a few workshop slots left remaining for Book Week itself (August 22 – 28 2020) and are also currently taking bookings for Author/Illustrator Visits for Terms 2 and 3.
Email me at dannikapatterson @ gmail.com for more info on booking a school visit or workshop in Brisbane, or book via Creative Net Speakers Agency (Australia-wide).
🙏🙏Thanks in advance for sharing this post or tagging the teachers and librarians in your networks. 🙏🙏
